BAR
Welcome to NXT and the first room most people will begin their experience. Our beverage team HQ in a way, they have their micro-distillery in here, and the central bar serves all sort of wonderful drinks made from local ingredients.
Talking of which, we even have arak palms growing in the room which we'll use for some limited production of our own arak - how hyper local is that? And what is that beautiful Balinese door for???

‘Stackfruit’ 2023
by Komang, Wayan & Agency X
Wood, metal, beeswax
Bringing to life some of the unique ingredients of Indonesia, we took the large, versatile ‘fruit-vegetable hybrid’ jackfruit and playfully created a pod of standing tables hand-carved in wood. By playing with the scale of an already-big fruit, we exaggerate its proportions and create illusion in a gravity-defying balanced stacking arrangement.
‘Hidden Spirits’ 2023
by Komang, Wayan & Agency X
Wood, concrete, beeswax
A structural column features large areas of concrete seemingly broken away. Underneath they reveal the centre of the column which appears to be made from wood, featuring carvings THAT depict dioramas of village life. On closer inspection, the scenes of village life show a group of men harvesting and producing arak… unsurprisingly, there is some drinking involved to celebrate their harvest.
‘Gateway of Metamorphosis' 2023
by Komang, Wayan & Agency X
Wood, metal, paint
A metaphor for a gateway to another realm, the Balinese door is an iconic symbol of culture and transformation. This artwork in our bar at NXT holds many secrets in its carvings, and an even bigger secret awaiting those who wish to enter.
‘Palm of Light’ 2023
by LJB & Agency X
Wood, glass, metal, LED
Many palm trees produce bouquets and clusters of hanging fruit, as does the Arak palm tree used for making the local spirit drink. This custom chandelier emulates the clustering of the round fruits and shines a light on our bar which is a celebration of using local ingredients for alcoholic beverages.
