BEEKEEPING
Resting quietly at the back of our rooftop forest garden is a 'Joglo' structure where we have two lovely species of bees, happy in their hives — Apis Cerana (stinging bee) and Trigona, or as the locals call them, kele kele (stingless black bee).
Primarily to help act as pollinators for the habitat but eventually a source of some small amounts of delicious honey too.
The black stingless bees produce very small amounts of a beautiful, acidic dark honey that is almost like instant vinaigrette. The second variety, a more traditional honey bee, which we’re excited to see what flavours the honey will be from the variety of plants around the site.
Long-live the bees!
